Herpetic Folliculitis
Herpetic Folliculitis is a viral infection frequently caused by herpes simplex virus or varicella zoster virus. This infection is rare but it exists. Usually this infection will follow after a recurrent folliculitis mostly caused by herpes simplex virus, a virus that is commonly the cause of infections that arises in the head part of a person including the mouth and lips. Once you have these virus, then it will be a permanent resident in your system. It will just disappear when your system recovers but it will eventually go back when your immune system will drop. Herpetic folliculitis is somewhat the upgraded type of folliculitis. Most of the reported cases having this kind of infection are immunosuppressed clients. Clients who have current diseases aside from these, that caused their immune system to go down. But take note not all reported cases are coming from immunosuppressed individual, there were also well clients reported to have this type of infection. Although this kind of infection is not well-known to everyone for the reason that only few number of cases being reported but everybody must be aware that this condition needs immediate attention.

Signs and symptoms of herpetic folliculitis include blisters accompanied by intense pain, recurrent folliculitis, boils and carbuncles are oftentimes noted.
How to diagnose Herpetic Folliculitis?
Diagnosis is usually made by a physician. It cannot be diagnosed by a single test, aside from observations and assessment there are different test to be done like specimen biopsy wherein the physician will get a sample of the secretion from the affected part. The client will undergo series of test before herpetic folliculitis can be diagnosed.
How to treat this infection?
Physicians will give an anti-viral, to ease the suffering of the clients. But as we know viruses are self-limiting so it will disappear themselves without any treatment given, but prophylaxis must be provided and that is your anti-viral medications. It doesn’t mean that this is not a serious condition since it is self-limiting. It is then a very serious condition that needs prompt diagnosis and treatment by a professional doctor.
